UCB Home Loans' Website Cookie and Privacy Statement

UCB Home Loans will only collect, process and store information about you that we have openly collected from you or obtained with your consent. In addition to this, we log your IP address, which is automatically recognised by our Web Server.

We will only collect information that is relevant to providing the service. If we need to transfer your information to another company in order to provide the service to you, we will tell you.

If you use standard e-mail for communication with UCB Home Loans, this will not be protected in the same way and you should be aware that UCB Home Loans cannot guarantee that it remains confidential whilst in transit. All e-mail sent to UCB Home Loans will be monitored and checked to ensure our systems operate effectively.

This privacy policy only covers the UCB Home Loans branded websites, links within this site to external websites are not covered by this policy.

  • To store intermediaries details on the Online Agreement in Principle. In addition, all of the information is encrypted in this part of the site for greater security.
  • From time to time we use a third party company to monitor and analyse traffic to, from and within our website. Cookies may be used as part of this process but we will not record any information that uniquely identifies you.

IP (Internet Protocol)
All networks connected to the Internet speak IP, the technical standard which allows data to be transmitted between two devices. TCP/IP (Transport Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) is responsible for making sure messages get from one computer to another and that the messages are understood.

How to switch off cookies

Cookies can be 'switched off' in your browser. This means that no information will be stored on your computer.

In Internet Explorer 4

  • Go to the 'View' menu
  • Click 'Internet Options'
  • Click 'Advanced'

Tick the box that says 'Prompt before accepting cookies'
The next time a website tries to send a cookie to your computer, you will be given the option to refuse the cookie.

In Internet Explorer 5+

  • Go to the 'Tools' menu
  • Click on 'Internet Options'
  • Click the 'Security Tab'
  • Highlight the 'Internet' zone (selected by default)
  • Select security level 'High' for this zone
  • Click on 'OK'

Now your browser will no longer accept new cookies

In Internet Explorer 6

  • Go to the 'Tools' menu
  • Click on 'Internet Options'
  • Click the 'Privacy' tab
  • Move the slider until it shows 'Block all cookies'
  • Click on 'Apply' and 'OK'

Your browser will now no longer accept new cookies

In Netscape 4+

  • Go to 'Edit' in the menu bar
  • Click on 'Preferences'
  • Click on 'Advanced'
  • Tick the box that says 'Warn me before accepting a cookie'
  • Now shut down and restart Netscape

Now your browser will no longer accept new cookies

In Netscape 6+

  • Go to 'Edit' in the menu bar
  • Click on 'Preferences'
  • Click on 'Advanced'
  • Select the 'Cookies' field
  • Tick either 'Warn me before accepting a cookie' or 'Disable cookies'
  • Now shut down and restart Netscape

Now your browser will no longer accept new cookies

  • The information you supply will be stored on a database and is being collected in order to register you with UCB Home Loans and conduct business with you. Business cannot be carried out without this registration.
  • Your information will be disclosed to companies within the Nationwide Group ("Nationwide" means Nationwide Building Society and its subsidiaries: including Nationwide Trust Ltd, Nationwide International Ltd, The Mortgage Works (UK) plc and UCB Home Loans) and to consultants working with UCB Home Loans for business purposes.
  • Elements of your data will be used to build a picture of all mortgage intermediaries within the UK, which will be held by our consultants and used by lenders to establish market share.
